City of Thieves

Nine seems to be a popular number. Last month, there were 9 of us. This month, there were nine of us. Anyway, nine of us met at Naked Tchopstix to discuss Stephanie's pick - City of Thieves by David Benioff. We liked it. Here's what happened after I arrived (34 minutes late, sorry):

* We agreed that 6:00 is too early. Future work-night gatherings should probably be at 6:30.
* We all met Jeni, and she met us.
* Lindsay let everyone know that Celeste is taking a hiatius and will catch up with us in November.
* Cris revealed the October selection, and we nailed down dates and details for a few other months.
* After an incident with a rogue Riesling, Erin is due at least $6 worth of good karma.

Here's the schedule going forward:

August 17 - Still Alice by Lisa Genova. Hosted by Melissa at Rock Bottom Brewery on 86th Street. 6:30PM (available at Target per Stephanie's article)

September20 - Postcards by Annie Proulx. This is a Sunday, and Erin is hosting a late afternoon pitch-in at her house (57th & Norwaldo). 4:30PM.

October 19 - Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. Hosted by Cris - location TBD.

November - Jill will announce her selection at the August meeting.

December - Val, because it's the month of her birth. We'll meet at Taste.

January - Dayna, who promises not select The Autobiography of Frederick Douglass

Thanks!
